My manager, Nene A. put tissue beside the table where I sat to watch Zia perform for her bloggers/radio station dj appreciation night. Zia was to do a couple of songs with 2 other guitarists and answer a few questions. I asked Nene what the tissue was for and she said I might cry. I went to say, “O.A. ka naman, why would I cry?!”. She didn’t answer but instead gave me a sly smile. An I-know-you-too…-well kind of smile. I was intrigued. Zia started with her original composition, “Simple Girl”, the went to sing other hits from her cd like, “Ako Na Lang” and “Dear Lonely”. She even did a beautiful acoustic rendition of her Carol King medley. But it was this song that brought tears to my eyes. It was a song for her Papa. Zia singing, “My Heart Belongs To Daddy”.
