Zsa Zsa Padillamarks big screen drama comeback via ‘Mano Po 6: My Mother’s Love’

Zsa Zsa Padilla is not only local music industry’s undisputed Divine Diva, she is also one of the finest actresses of her generation with a host of acting trophies to boot. In fact, in her last movie outing, “Ako Legal Wife,” a comedy spin-off of the highly successful Regal Films’ “Mano Po” franchise, the performance of the singer-actress revealed her natural knack for comedy, which won her nods from critics and best actress trophies from different award-giving bodies.

After years of hiatus from the big screen, Zsa Zsa is ready to make a much-awaited comeback via Regal Films’ “Mano Po 6: My Mother’s Love,” topbilled by megastar Sharon Cuneta and the official entry of the said film outfit to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Undeniably, Zsa Zsa is very blessed to have the latest “Mano Po” starrer as her first drama project for the big screen in years. It does not only allow her to exchange acting chops with the megastar, it also makes her part of the biggest “Mano Po” movie to date – estimated budget of the movie is a whopping P70 million.

Zsa Zsa will play the role of Olive, the scheming sister-in-law of Melinda (Sharon). Because of Olive’s evil ways, Melinda’s daughter, Stephanie (Heart Evangelista), will rebel against her own mother.

The movie will feature Sharon and Zsa Zsa in a number of highly-charged dramatic confrontations. According to some insiders, the said scenes are a must-see because the two actresses really gave it their all, with the help of the movie’s director Joel Lamangan.

“We really gave it our all,” says Zsa Zsa. “Sharon and I are friends, so there’s no problem even if the ‘fights’ we had were a bit realistic. We want the movie to showcase only the best, so the viewers will see only the best.”

Zsa Zsa is also honored to be working with the industry’s best actors and actresses from different generations – Drama King Christopher de Leon, young stars Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo, Ryan Eigenmann and Ciara Sotto, movie icon Boots Anson Roa with Kris Aquino in a guest role.

“I am so happy to be a part of ‘Mano Po 6: My Mother’s Love,” concludes Zsa Zsa. “It’s very obvious why this is the biggest ‘Mano Po’ movie. You couldn’t ask for more – great actors and actresses, multi-awarded director, touching story (by Roy Iglesias), excellent production design.”

“Mano Po 6: My Mother’s Love” will open on December 25 during the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. Others in the cast are Nina Jose, Nicole Uysiuseng, JC de Vera and John Manalo.
